About the Department


Mirza Ghalib College was established in 1969. Ever since its inception, the Department of Persian has been an integral part of the college producing academicians and scholars with running courses of intermediate and bachelor with Hons.

Prof. Dr. Ahmad Hussain was the Head of the Department from 1969, whose works are valuable treasure of knowledge and wisdom. He is the earliest faculty member of the Department. With his superannuation, Prof. Dr. Khurshid Ahmad Khan took charge of HOD and later he was appointed Professor-in-charge of the college in 2017.

After the superannuation of Prof. Dr. Khurshid Ahmad Khan, Prof. Dr. S. Jawaid Hassan has taken over the charge of HOD on 01-04-2018. Prof. Hassan performed his duty actively to promote the teaching and research of Persian language and literature. He is dedicated scholar and has many articles to his credit. He has conducted extensive research on “HINDU PERSIAN POETS OF BIHAR”.
