About the Department

The Department of Geography is dedicated to the study of the earth, its landscapes, people, environments, and the complex interactions between them. It plays a vital role in understanding spatial patterns, natural resources, climate, and human activities that shape our world.

The department aims to provide students with a strong foundation in both physical geography—which explores landforms, climate, soils, water bodies, and ecosystems—and human geography, which examines population, culture, urbanization, economic activities, and spatial planning.

Equipped with modern tools such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems), remote sensing, and cartography, the department emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and practical applications. This prepares students for careers in research, education, urban and regional planning, environmental management, disaster management, resource mapping, and sustainable development.

The Geography Department not only imparts academic knowledge but also encourages fieldwork, research projects, and community engagement, enabling students to connect classroom learning with real-world issues. Its vision is to create globally aware, environmentally responsible, and socially conscious individuals who contribute to solving pressing global challenges.
